Aspiring Email Marketers' Challenges: Lack of Time

Tips on Mastering Time Management for Enhancing Email Marketing Knowledge

This is the last topic of the three-part discussion series about the challenges many email marketers face at the start of their careers.

If you missed it.

You can read about the lack of resources here.

Then the lack of knowledge can be found here.

We will talk about Lack of Time today because many aspiring email marketers are still connected to their current employer, working from 9:00 to 5:00. This makes it hard for them to adapt to freelance due to time constraints.

That’s a valid reason.

Although I know a lot of successful email marketers and freelancers who work full-time jobs during the day and email marketers during the night, these friends are working at DepEd, LGU, and private and big companies. However, they are still able to manage their freelance work.

So how are they managing it?

Managing time effectively is crucial for someone aspiring to become an email marketer while working full-time.

Here are a few tips to help maximize productivity and make the most of limited available time:

Set Clear Goals:

Define specific goals and prioritize them. Determine what you want to achieve as an email marketer and break your goals into smaller, manageable tasks.

Goal: set up automated flows
Task: Learn best practices in setting up automated email and test different approaches.

Goal: Learn to create campaigns
Task: Research strategies for planning and implementing campaigns

Create a Schedule

Plan your days. Allocate dedicated time for learning and developing email marketing skills. Set aside a specific time each day or week for studying, practicing, and experimenting with email marketing techniques.

Utilize Commuting Time:

Use your commuting time to listen to podcasts, audiobooks, or industry-related content. This can help you gain knowledge and stay updated on the latest trends in email marketing.

Leverage Lunch Breaks:

Make use of your lunch breaks for self-study or online courses. Even dedicating 30 minutes a day to learning can accumulate significant knowledge over time.

Enroll in online email marketing courses that offer short video lessons, allowing you to learn during your lunch break.

Efficient Time Management:

Identify and eliminate time-wasting activities from your routine. Minimize distractions by turning off notifications on your phone or computer during your designated study periods.

Seek Online Resources:

Utilize online platforms, blogs, and reputable websites offering free or affordable learning resources for email marketing. Look for comprehensive guides, tutorials, and case studies to deepen your understanding.

Follow influential email marketers on LinkedIn or Twitter to access their insights and recommendations.

Network and Learn from Others:

Join online communities, forums, or social media groups related to email marketing. Engage with professionals in the field, ask questions, and seek advice. Networking can provide valuable insights and opportunities for growth.

Attend virtual conferences or webinars focused on email marketing to learn from industry experts and expand your network.

Prioritize Learning:

It's essential to prioritize learning and skill development. Make it a non-negotiable part of your routine. Sacrificing some leisure activities or reducing time spent on non-productive tasks can create more space for learning.

Substitute leisure reading with email marketing books or industry-related blogs to make your free time more productive.

Continuous Learning:

Stay updated with industry trends and changes. Subscribe to newsletters, follow influential email marketers, and participate in webinars or virtual events. Continuous learning will enhance your skills and keep you competitive.

Evaluate and Adjust:

Regularly assess your progress and make necessary adjustments to your schedule and learning methods. Adapt to what works best for you and refine your approach accordingly.

Remember, consistency and dedication are key to achieving your goals as an email marketer while working full-time.

By making the most of your available time and being proactive, you can successfully explore the opportunities of working from home in this field.

That’s it for now.
