Mastering the Art of Handling Feedback: Strategies for Growth and Success

Benefits of Learning How to Handle Feedback

This response came last week. I needed it since it will guide me in creating relevant content.

So, if you have any feedback or suggestions, please don't hesitate to let me know. I would love to hear from you.

And since we're on the topic of feedback. I want to ask ...

How do you take negative feedback?

Because feedback is part of being a freelancer. But it doesn't have to be a negative experience, right? Instead, use it as an opportunity to improve your skills and make clients more confident working with you.

There are three keys to handling feedback.

1.Accept it.

It's an opportunity to review your workflow and make adjustments.

2. Don't take it personally.

Your service is an extension of yourself, so it's only natural to feel hurt when receiving negative feedback. However, don't let it affect you for too long. Use it as a chance to grow.

3. Always take the high ground.

Thank your client or colleague for providing the necessary feedback. Remember, feedback should not destroy the relationship you once had with them.

Handling feedback responsibly can make a huge difference in your freelance business.

One thing to keep in mind when receiving feedback is to understand the perspective of the person giving the feedback. They may have a different perspective on your work or an idea of what they want the outcome to be. Check where they're coming from and ask questions if you're unsure what they mean by their feedback.

To avoid unnecessary feedback, you have to:

➼ Agree on the project's scope.➼ Clear communication➼ Set expectations

The last one is often the cause of many misunderstandings. Sometimes you end up doing things beyond your skills which often leads to delays and poor quality of work that could potentially become the source of negative feedback later on.

In essence, handle feedback gracefully and don't take it too personally. Use it as a tool for growth.

Don't let it stop you from being the best at what you do.
